Probably London's current food obsession is burgers. No, not those disgusting things masquerading as burgers that you'll find under a yellow arch, but instead, real prime beef patties with the most glorious toppings. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so first, on Sunday I had a date. There's always that pressure to go somewhere cool, or different, or something at least with a talking point. Not feeling a 3 course fancy-smancy restaurant on a Sunday evening, I decided to head to wear all the cool kids are hanging out- MEATLiquor. With a slogan of "Come hungry, leave drunk" it was sure going to be a talking point. Plus if all didn't go so well, least maybe I wouldn't remember too much.

We decided to start by heeding MEATLiquor's advice, and headed straight for the bar. They have an impressive list of different tipples, but of course it was the cocktails that got me. I went for a Tipping the Velvet in classic me fashion of something fruity.

However I have a very important announcement to make. I am the muse behind 'Something a bit different'. Ok Ok, so I might be wishful thinking, however my date tried to sum me up in a cocktail, and whispered secretly to the bar tender flavours and alcohol I liked/ didn't like to create a bespoke cocktail. The result- I have no idea but it was bloody good. When I asked the bartender what it was called he said he would name it 'Something a bit different'. Here's a request MEATLiquor- call it The Heroine In Heels? Yes?

MEATliquor (13)

However it was soon time to move onto the next point of the mantra- come hungry, and boy were we ready now to be fed. I couldn't help notice on the way to our table the intriguing Chilli challenge leader board- I think that should be my next goal, but maybe it wouldn't be too lady like for a date. Not that MEATLiquor could be called anything like ladylike.

Under a harsh red lighting, the wall are covered in graffiti, red paint splatters, and that plastic sheeting you get in slaughter houses.  Its unapologetically dive bar, backed by a modern american blues music I'm told (I had no idea what the genre was, but it was pretty damn cool).

Now back to the intro of my story. Remember I told you that London is obsessed with burger joints currently? Well stop searching for The One- I've found it. MEATLiquor is THE BEST BURGER JOINT I've found so far. Oh. My. Gosh. I died and went to food pleasure heaven.

I went for the Red Chilli Cheeseburger, a triumph of beef, meat chilli, cheese, onions, jalapeños and musters all encased in a soft bun.

Oh it was gloriously spicy, juicy and pink, layers upon layers of flavour- a real pleasure of a burger.

MEATliquor (2)

My date went for the intriguing name of Dead Hippie burger, a double wammie cheese burger with the again, allusive dead hippie sauce. The look on his face told me everything- it was beautiful.

However I think I need to really dedicate this to those sides. Oh those sides...

MEATliquor (15)

We shared Chilli Cheese Fries, which can only be described as nachos but with fries instead. This will change your comfort food eating forever.

Then there were the onion rings- they were huge, the picture doesn't do them justice, they were as big as my hand. I don't know what the secret batter was but boy, they were truly, truly amazing. Honestly I could have eaten so many more of them.

MEATliquor (1)

However I want to take a breather before I start this, as what I'm about to say will change everything- I discovered the best chicken wings I've ever eaten. Yes, I'll repeat that, he best wings EVER IN MY LIFE. I don't know how to convince you more, that these chicken wings were the most delicious little morsels ever. They were just so unique in flavour that I just had to close my eyes while eating them to truly appreciate what I had been given. I chicken legend had been witnessed that night.

There was the warning plastered across the wall that Evil lurked...

meatliquor1

...and if you follow me on Instagram you'll have already seen this picture that showed MEATLiquor definitely brings out the evil in you over food.
Its mine, all mine!

MEATLiquor is serious 100% a must go place. The food is outstanding. You can find them at 74 Welbeck Street in Soho.

Oh and FYI I didn't need to get drunk and forget, as the date went very well. Another point there MEATLiquor.

French Connection Trousers (3)

Once upon a time there was a young(ish) girl who worked all day everyday, tap tap tapping on her keyboard, when one Friday night a handsome fella dropped an invite into her mail box for Friday night cocktails. But to her horror she realised she was in her frumpy office outfit, oh what would she do?

Ever get that feeling? Office wear isn't known for being sexy, however with a few tweaks, a quick (un-sexy) change in the work loos and your ready to go from work to bar style.

French Connection Trousers (4) French Connection Trousers (5) French Connection Trousers (7)

All you really need is a pair of show stopping trousers, some slinky heels, and the rest you can keep on- yes that white work shirt just got moved to the frow.

These trousers by French Connection are just the slinkiest thing I've seen in a good while. They are that gorgeous wax-y style, and the subtle glitter just makes them perfect for dazzling that handsome princes eye across the bar.

Plus, without going all sensible on you, there also perfect because, shhhh, they don't crease, so you can fold them into your work bag for that Cinderella transformation come 5:30. Who said fashion wasn't practical?

Trousers- c/o* French Connection
Shirt- Zara
Jewel Necklace- Zara
Long Necklace- c/o* Azuni
Heels- Topshop (Similar)

The way I see it, the less time spent changing outfits, the more cocktails you can fit in at the bar. Now that's my kind of fairy tale ending.

Shake Shack (16)

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, last weekend you may have spotted some rather geeky offenders. This is because, I, Heroine In Heels, was at a 24 hour Hackathon. If you don't speak nerd, allow me to interpret.

A hackathon is where computer coders come together and attempt to write a piece of software or program they have been challenged to in a given time frame. Mine was 24 hours, so this means we code for 24 hours solid to complete the challenge.
Pure, utter geekery!

I wasn't actually coding though as it was my company who were running it so I was working, meaning for me the entire event lasted 48 hours, which is why there was an unlimited supply of red bull.

Shake Shack (1)

However I knew I needed to fuel up on something more than just red bull, so I decided to brave the sunlight (for a minute I thought I'd turned into a zombie when I looked in the mirror) and grab a lunch worthy of my geek status. No time for fine dinning, or small portions, I needed fuel- ASAP, so Shake Shack it was.

Shake Shack (2)

The American legend opened a while back in Covent Garden to huge media coverage, and quickly turned cult status due to die for burgers. It's fast food, without that typical fast food quality, although in my impatient state it wasn't quick enough. Don't they know I have Java code to get back to? Sheesh, n00bs!

Shake Shack (3) Shake Shack (5)

Now I'd heard so much about Shake Shacks cheesy fires that it had to be done.

Shake Shack (6) Shake Shack (7) Shake Shack (8)

Liquid gold it was like. These ain't no Maccy D's for sure!

Shake Shack (9)

However the main event was of course the burgers. I couldn't decided between the Shack Burger and the Shroom Burger, but convinced myself to go Shack, only when I got to the till the words Shack Stack just seem to fall out.

FYI That's both types piled on top of each other.

Shake Shack (10)

A cheese burger and a crispy fried portabello mushroom filled with melted cheese. Now seriously, you can trust me, I'm a nerd, you have my scouts honour that you need this in you life (or belly more accurately). Seriously so darn good!

Shake Shack (14) Shake Shack (15)

There was no grace to my demolition of my lunch, the Geek needed fuel.

Shake Shack (4)

In my zombie like feeding frenzie I probably ignored my patient company, Hannah a bit too much. Apologies my lovely.

Shake Shack (11)

Knowing I would need something to keep me going through the Hackathon, I turned to ice cream for the road. Well all that sugar will certainly keep me awake! See there is an actual need for dessert. Union Shack Concrete = fuel for geeks.

Shake Shack (12)

After a quick top up lunch it was back to the office for more coding fun. The hackathon was actually so much fun, even if my 8 o'Clock we started to go slightly doolally and crank out Bieber on the juke box- oh the shame.

Cafe De Paris (20)

You would think after mine and Caroline's adventurous Saturday at The Wam Bam Club which I just posted about, we'd want to hit the hay? But oh no, we're Londoners (OK I'm adopted but I'm learning quick) and I'm learning that Londoners seem to be breed of their own- they just keep on going. Well when in Rome London as they say.

A quick call to my new London friend Hannah and it was a girls night out at Cafe De Paris with London Lux. Sometimes after a long week at work, you just want to put on your dancing shoes, and wiggle the night away.

Cafe De Paris (4)

Who left me in charge with this bad boy? Really? Just look at that devious face.

Cafe De Paris (10) Cafe De Paris (5) Cafe De Paris (2) Cafe De Paris (11)

Being an adoptive Londoner I feel now I need to make a bit more effort with my make-up. Everyone here is just so glam, and I'm not going to lie, I pretty much wear the same old favourites day in day out. So I hope approve of my night time look- Estee Lauder mascara Sumptuous Extreme, Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Twinkling Ruby Shimmer and flick of Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner. Any tips to get my out of my beauty rut?

Cafe De Paris (8)

One of my biggest worries moving to London was that I would be lonely and have no friends- well I couldn't be further from the truth. I've not know these to amazing ladies long, and yet I count them as such great friends. And who said Londoners were unfriendly?

Cafe De Paris (7) Cafe De Paris (17) Cafe De Paris (6) Cafe De Paris (1)

I told you I was going to practice my fire eating like the lady at the beginning.

On the count of 3-
1... 2...

...Oh look there's that Jamie Laing from Made In Chelsea. 3rd degree burns averted by a reality star.

Cafe De Paris (19) Cafe De Paris (12) Cafe De Paris (13)

We shimmied, and wiggled to the heavy base music. But once the pictures started to get a little blurry we decided to have one last drink for the road.

Needless to say my heels were quickly discarded into a corner where they remained until late morning after a strong black coffee and a bacon buttie- That Sunday Morning Feeling.
