Flesh & Buns Sunday Brunch- Food Writer Style

“A boozy, bottomless brunch” I didn't really need to see much more of the invite to know what I would be doing on Sunday.

But if you need more convincing, then let me explain dear readers, for I have found the crème de la crème of indulgence. Flesh & Buns, the Asian eatery in Covent Garden have just launched their Sunday Brunch menu. For £29 or £36 you get unlimited small plates, one main, one dessert, one cocktail and unlimited wine or Prosecco. Errr what now?! Is this like the best discovery ever… quite possibly so.

Writing a blog that heavily features food, you get to meet a lot of people out and about. If anyone is curious to know what goes on behind the scenes, there are a lot of press events at restaurants and bars, for when new menus are launched, new drinks and products etc., so when I’m there writing for this blog, there other bloggers, but also print writers and journalists. Over time you see familiar faces, and stay in touch. So a few weeks ago, Janan, who writes for The Londonist decided to set up a brunch away from all the hoo-hah of press events, so we could chat about what we love best, whilst eating it!

And of course photographing!

We opted for the £36 menu as there was much more choice, and decided to get stuck in.

Now I think the waitress (or as it ended up turning into several to cover our table) underestimated the stomachs of food writers. When they say unlimited, I don’t think they counted on having a table of 10 foodies. No profit was made that day from us!

To cut a long story short, it ended up being a case of “We’ll have everything… x2”

The idea here is to share. No dish is one persons, just grab a plate and start passing around. Sharing is caring.

For mains I had the Sirloin Steak which I piled high into steamed buns, topped with sticky soy sauce. Hmm mmm.

Of course we all began to grown under the strain our belts were causing, however its a scientific fact that humans have a second stomach for pudding.

So like superheroes, we activated our second stomach and dove into melt in the middle pudding.

And something quite special...

S'MORES!!!

By the time we had licked every last morsel off our fingers, we couldn't have ate any S'-more!

The food is just incredible here, and trust me when I say, if you come hungry, you will certainly get your moneys worth. The Sunday Brunch runs every Sunday until indefinite, but book now as it gets busy busy busy.

  9. I love Flesh and Buns - you're right, the s'mores really are something special with that matcha chocolate addition! They also do a really excellent sparkling sake that I can't remember the name of...my table polished off a fair few bottles between us! Really worth a try.
