Vauxhall Village Presents Summer Screen

Friday 20 June 2014
Vauxhall Presents (13)

Since coming back from my holiday I feel that finally summer is here. Whether I still have rose tinted holiday glasses remains to be seen, but so long as the sun in shining I don’t care- pour me another Pimms.

Yet I think it might not just be me in the summer spirit as Vauxhall Village are doing something very fun, and very summery.
 Vauxhall Presents (11)

For 6 nights only they have pitched up on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens to show 6 classic films outside under the summer stars. Armed with a huge giant screen, deckchairs and blankets, it’s a brilliant relaxing night. But even better, it’s FREE! Yes, a free cinema! Genius! So grab yourself a picnic, and a spot on the grass and head down now.

So on Tuesday me and Nessa got ourselves down for their 3rd show of Alan Partridge.

While the whole event if free, if you want to hire a deck chair or blanket, its £5 or £3- hardly earth shattering, plus you are more than welcome to bring your own.

But if you hire a deck chair, you get a cheeky bag of popcorn. Go for the sweet and salty, it’s so moreish!

To get a spot, its best to come about 7ish however the film doesn’t start till “the sun goes down”. With ample time on our hands, and a camera at our disposable, things may have gotten a little silly....

I blame it on heat stroke.

But then once the sun started to retreat, up came the volume and the credits began to roll.

I’ve never seen Alan Partridge before, but oh how I laughed and laughed! Why has no one showed me this before, it was hilarious!

There was an absolute brilliant buzz about the place, with sausage rolls being swapped for pork pies, and don't forget the good old Pimms.

Seriously get yourself down there next for a brilliant FREE evening.

There are 3 shows left so here you go:
Tuesday 8th July – Slumdog Millionaire (15) ‘Vauxhall Village have teamed up with the Big Dance week to enjoy Bollywood dancing workshops before the film’

Tuesday 15th July -This Is Spinal Tap (15) ‘Classic mockumentary about legendary British rock band Spinal Tap’

Tuesday 22nd July- The Big Lebowski (18) ‘Cohen brothers cult classic and everyone’s favourite bowling movie’

Happy Summer Everyone!

  6. What a great idea especially now that it is getting hotter. I have seen hot tub films but to be honest they never appealed this however is right up my street. Deck chair, popcorn and a good film. A good way to spend the evening Lucy x
