It's officially autumn. Although here in the UK, it really can not make up it's mind. This can mean it’s pretty hard to dress appropriately (see my last post on season transitional style), never mind fashionably. But I’ve discovered my currently item love, which is perfect for warmer or cooler days; the denim dress. It comes and goes in style, but right now, it’s perfect with either bare legs, with tights, a t-shirt on underneath or even a huge scarf around. Here are my top picks from around the web, and top tips on how to style a denim dress for autumn.
Jacket: Zara Old (Similar)
Bag: Coach (similar)
Shoes: New Look
My little number is from good old ASOS. I wanted something that was free flowing and loose as too many dresses are a little restrictive and well, sometimes I want comfort and style. Plus that all important room for food. But how to style it?
If it's cold outside?
The denim dress works really well with layers. For a casual look, add a long sleeve t-shirt underneath. If it's super cold, put on a pair of coloured tights. Brown and purple look really good against the denim blue.
If it's hot?
Go bare and show off a little skin. Add a pair of statement sunnies and a huge necklace for a fun, relaxed look. Just in case it does start to get a bit nippy later on, tie around your waist a flannel shirt.
Dressed up for the evening?
Denim dresses work just as well with a pair of statement heels. If the dress is plain, make sure your accessories stand out. Think East London vibe, rather than Mayfair glamour. A glitzy cross over bag, statement heels and a splash of bright purple lipstick and you are ready to go.
