The Top Knot And Slip Dress Trend

Thursday 8 September 2016

I found myself in a bit of a style rut these last few weeks. I've taken to wearing leggings, a quirky tee and shock horror, not heels. I desperately wanted to break out of the habit, so I decided to try a rather new style for me. I've nicknamed it the gothic Baby Spice, but for this, it's all about slip dresses and top knots.

Slip dresses first came about when underwear as outerwear became a thing. OK, judging by some celebs attire recently, we have transitioned into full on underwear being worn out, but for us mere mortals who don't quite have the balls, slip dresses are the perfect middle ground.

The first time I wore this dress I did feel like I had gone out in a rather sexy nightie, and was a little conscious, but then after that little hiccup, I actually felt great.

I decided to try the top knot trend, and surprisingly it's much easier to pull off than expected. Pair that with dark beaded jewelry and some statement bright heels and it makes a rather sassy outfit.

The slip dress is surprisingly versatile. I've also worn it with my beloved converse on my casual days, with a funky bomber jacket, and it still looks sassy as hell.

I am absolutely loving the slip dress trend, it's so much easier to wear than I expected. Let me know what you think down in the comments below.
