Canon EOS 1100D DSLR

Sunday 6 January 2013
Say hello to my new baby. My very first proper camera.
On Christmas day, it may come as a bit of a shock, but I didn’t receive any presents. It was OK, I honestly didn’t really mind, I just enjoyed watching everyone else open theirs, plus the opening of presents lasts for such a short time in our house, then the real event happens- the food! It was a little bit awkward every time someone asked me what I got and I said nothing... it made me sound like I was so deprived! I’m defiantly not though, it was only because I was hoping for a DSLR camera, but I only came home the Saturday before Christmas so hadn’t got a chance to go shopping for one.
I love taking photos, I’m known for whipping out my camera and just wanting to capture every moment, whether that be a family event or simple something that looks pretty. Yet I have actually been using my other baby, my Samsung Galaxy S3 for my photos, and all the ones on my blog are taken with my phone. I don’t think they’re too bad for a phone, but I defiantly wanted to actually have a proper camera.

So when my parents agreed that they would get me one for Christmas, well I couldn’t have been more grateful! After talking through my needs with the lovely man in Jessop’s, I bought the Canon EOS 1100D.
It’s known for being a great camera for beginners, who are just learning photography, and that’s what I am. I’m planning on taking some photography courses, and develop for a happy snapper to more of a photographer this year- call it my new year’s resolution if you will.
It comes with features such as:
  • 12-megapixel
  • ISO 100-6400 sensitivity
  • Wide-area 9-point AF system
  • 63-zone iFCL exposure metering
  • 3 frame continuous shooting
I also bought the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II interchangeable lens that’s suitable for portrait taking.
While I’m still getting used to it and experimenting with the different settings, I love it already. I can't really give a review or recommend it, as its so new, but in a few months, I'll give an update.
So watch this space for some of my photos.
