"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world." — Marilyn Monroe
I'd like to think Marilyn was a pretty classy lady, so with that in mind on Thursday I headed down to Covent Garden to Duo Boots Fitting Room for the results of their #FITFORFESTIVEFASHION competition they were running to tie in with their new party collection. As I previous said Duo are a little bit special as they not only do foot size, but width AND calve sizes. Perfect for eliminating baggy knee high boots.
You might have seen my entry earlier on the week, which was to design your ultimate party outfit using your favourite from the collection with the chance of winning it, plus a window styling session with Laura Puddy who writes the amazing Catwalk to Curvy from Cosmopolitan.
With some champagne (I feel Marylin would approve) I did a little mingling and discovered this lovely's boots. Lust list added.
We then headed over to the fitting area to hear from Laura and Jem; Duo's head of design. Jem possibly has the best job, she designs shoes for a living, err why did my school careers team not suggest this to me?
I also was madly head over heels in love with this girls skirt too. Oh maybe a blogger shopping trip should be organised? Now there's a recipe of overspend!
Sadly I didn't win the competition, but big congratulations to Aimee. I look forward to seeing your window display.
Afterwards I went and chatted to Laura, who let me just tell you is the loveliest, most down to earth woman in fashion I have ever met. I used, and repeatedly apologised to her over my use of quotation mark hand jesters, but sometimes in fashion I just feel its necessary. I am passionate about being unique and being different in your chosen field. As a technologist, I am clearly in a man's world, and so do a lot for woman in technology, so Laura, doing similar for curvier girls in fashion was my kind of girl. Mine and her piece of advice is no matter what the industry status quo is, ignore it and follow your passions. The status quo will never change if you don't make it change.

Congrats doll for being a part in such a magnificent event. Come and read my post its a dedication to all my followers.
