White Room Supper Club

The White Room Supper (10)

In an attempt to keep up with all cool kids in London town, I've become a frequent reader of Time Out and The Nudge, and other what's new in London websites. This city moves so fast that every week there is a new trend, or a new must see event. Its what I just adore about London- its ever so exciting, although possibly a bit exhausting too.

So in good old London extravagance I hail 'The restaurant is dead!' OK, so that might be a little dramatic, but I present to you something possibly far better. The Supper Club.

The White Room Supper (11)

A Supper Club is essentially a dinner party hosted in someone else's house- but you don't know the host or the guests.  But let's get one thing straight here, with The White Room Supper Club, we're not talking any old house or any old cooking. The only way to describe the The White Room is breathtakingly beautiful. A stylish modern apartment in the heart of London- the kind of home I'm aspiring to, its what keeps me going when I get that 3 O'clock slump .

We were greeted with a hot mug of mulled wine and some gorgeous canapés, which I'm afraid I was too busy devouring to take any pictures, but note to self- hot prunes wrapped in bacon- winner- just trust me on that one.

Once had mingled and networked enough to make my work HR proud, we took to our seats; to my left, the lovely Caroline.

Remember how I said this wasn't like any old dinner party I'd cook- well prepare to see evidence.

We started with a spoonful of Cod Ceviche and Pomegranate. Such a light, refreshing taste yet layers upon layers of flavours in that small spoon.

Next we were presented with a hot bowl of potato soup with mustard, dill and salmon with a home made roll. I just adore soup this time of year, and this was definitely the best I've had so far. The mustard of fantastic with the salmon- a mental note made for next time I cook fish.

However it was what came next that just knocked my socks off. Chicken Liver Terrine on White Chocolate Brioche. Oh my days, this was the dish of the night, and possibly one of the best dishes I've had in a very long time. The white chocolate brioche was too die for, thick, cakey version and it  definitely chocolatey. The terrine was incredibly light yet rich, I honestly could have ate this dish again and again.

The problem I have sometimes is that if I make a superb first course, its so hard to follow up with the main. However like I said we are not talkin gmy level of dinner party here. The main was Loin of Venison with Cardamom Chocolate sauce with Hazelnut Spaetzle.

The Venison was just cooked to perfection- so tender and moist, and once again, the sauce of truly chocolatey- not just a bit, but a chocolate lovers dream.

As we were well and truly fed, we all chatted like old friends, discussing the trials of work, life and love. One thing that was apparent, we were all foodies, and all experimentalists when it came to going out and trying new things. I've picked up a few exciting new tips *Wiggles eyebrows*.

Finally we had Baked Apple Parfait with a Baked Apple with Amarettini. A truly love hot fruit, so it was the perfect dish to finish on after such rich foods previously.

Of course if that wasn't enough, as we all groaned and undid our top buttons, we were presented with baked goodies for the journey... or you know, there and then. Pecans are my favourite thing, I just can not resist anything with pecans on them. Sorry trousers, it might have to be 2 buttons this time.

The dinner was honestly one of the best I've had in a long long time, and the idea of a dinner party is far better than any restaurant in my mind. I can not recommend it enough. Plus, for £35 its an absolute steal!

You can find The White Room Supper Club online here or on Twitter for new dates and new menus as they change each time which means I am definitely going to go back. They also do private parties so if you need a last minute Christmas party idea, this would be perfect- its like having a private chef- and non of the washing up. Perfection.
