This week has been London Collections: Men. Essentially Mens Fashion Week. The biggest date in mens fashion calender, with an emphasises on British brands and up and coming talent. Now you know I love fashion, but mens fashion? I'm all for the androgynous look but I think this may be too far even for me. But through food into the mix, and well, now I'm interested!
Topman needed a base for the week, where the darlings of the fashion world could relax and recuperate in between shows, so they took over The Old Crown Pub in the West End, created a special burger menu, and brought the fashion world to dinner.
So when I was asked if I'd like to come down and try a Topman Burger, there was no hesitation- fashion and food? Finally my perfect night.
The pub was absolutely heaving when I arrived. Everyone was some fashionista/ stylist/ photographer discussing the best of the shows and swapping business cards.
I even had a little street style moment of my own after I spied this bag. It cost £2 as well I'm told on a vintage stall. So retro darlingggg.
But it was this board that I was really here for. The Topman Burger Menu.
Each of the 5 burgers had been created with a popular designer in mind.
I was torn between the Matthew Miller and the Charlie Porters...
The Matthew Miller Major Filler won.
The most succulent pulled pork I possibly have ever had was sandwiched between a perfectly dough on the inside, crispy on the outside brioche bun. Smoother it in spicy BBQ may and well, it really was just so damn good. Sometimes pulled pork can be quite dry, but let me assure you, fashion wouldn't have a stain on their name! This was so juicy, I could have had another.
Instead I opted for the fist sized onion rings instead. Kept me a happy gal.
My dinner partner chose the Topman Tower Burger. A double pattie smothered in cheese, bacon and egg. Meaty, juicy, flavoursome, I'm told on good authority 'This burger is so good man!'.
Look at the size! A real man burger.
Which brings me onto I guess the owner of such a burger. This being Men's Fashion Week, I thought it appropriate to bring along a man. This guy-
This is Dan. Dan is the boyfriend.
He asked me last Sunday whether I had introduced him to the blog, as if the blog was an actual entity. I hadn't, to which he sort of made a grunt/grumble/typical man sound. I'm hoping that was out of offence as now he has been introduced.
Blog this is Dan.
Dan this is blog.
Play nicely together now.
Finally food and fashion collide which makes for one very happy Laura.
While the Topman Burger Menu will end after London Collection: Men week is over, The Old Crown Pub has an amazing sounding normal burger menu including The Waldorf, a chicken fillet with walnut, apple and raisin mayo- err yes please!

Hi Dan - welcome to our world! What a gorgeous couple might I add - The burgers aren't half bad either. Shame that menu hasn't been continued! I always envy people that can pull off 'alternative' items like that bag. I guarantee if I wore it, people would assume it was my first day at 'big school'!
