Last we I was having a good old Twitter stalk. You know how it is, hoping from one tweet to another, really just being very nosy.
Well on my journey, I spied a tweet of a picture of the most delicious look Wellington I had ever seen. Defiantly worthy of the #foodporn. So worthy in fact I thought I'd come out from the shadows and say how drooling worthy it looked.
The owner of said hashtag food porn was The Sign of the Don. They said thanks, and then we parted cyber ways.
Until about 1 week later, when a email came into my box. Would I like to meet the hashtag food porn in person? Always!

The Sign of The Don is a fairly new bistro and very extensive bar just moments from Bank station. Its located on the site of the original Sandeman Port and Sherry Cellar, which I got a sneak peak at the cavernous underground cellar itself.
Such a fantastic space, I think it would be amazing to host wine tasting down there, but alas! 'Elf and Safety so no. Party poopers.

As the plates were cleared away, we both looked at each other. The moment was upon us. We were about to meet in person the legendary Venison Wellington aka Hashtag Food Porn.
And here he is-

Of course we couldnt forget pudding now. We decided to share the dark chocolate pot with salted caramel, and a good old classic cheese board from the British Isles and Iberian peninsula. Got to love a good cheese board.

But never one to let 'Elf and Safety stop us, each armed with a glass of red we headed upstairs to begin the hashtag food porn feast.
We started with king prawns marinated in a herb sauce and deep fried breadcrumb coated olives stuffed with feta.
The prawn were succulent and had that gorgeous fresh taste; not overly seasoned to let the raw flavour do the talking.

Sometimes when food tastes that good, cutlery only slow you down. Finger food time!

Ooh you tease...

Phworrrr. Look at that great hunk of meat inside.
I've had beef Wellington before and don't get me wrong I loved it, but there was alot more pastry than meat. Not here though, meat to pastry ratio is clearly skewed to meat and oh how we thank them for it!
However remember what your mother taught you, its not all about looks, its what's inside that counts.
Well thank God this one wasnt just a pretty face. Oh mmmm. I swear I let out a Hashtag Food Porn worthy moan. It was delicious. Oh the meat was so tender and juicy. Rich and flavoursome, honestly, it was delightful.

Hashtag Food Porn most defiantly stole the entire show, but we did also try to share the love around to its fellow Don dishes. We ordered a couple of side dishes of chickpeas with piquillo peppers and baby wilted spinach with pine nuts and raisins. Both good, but I could have done with a little more raisins in the spinach- picky? Well we wouldn't want them to get big headed now after Hashtag Food Porn would we?

And what goes with cheese? Port of curse. So naturally we had to have cheeky glass of Taylor's 10 year old tawny port.
So there we have it, a legend unmasked. I was very impressed with The Sign of the Don, as I'll be completely frank. Having this come off the back of a tweet, I didn't really know what to expect, but boy I was wrong. I can not fault their food or their service, or for that matter their alcohol. 26 types of Gin, need I say more?
But just in case, here is Hashtag Food Porn one last time. Go on, have a good look. I wont tell anyone.

I won't be eating meat again any time soon but I did spot pecorino and asparagus ravioli on the menu. Now that is definitely something to try! xxx
