We are coming close to the end of the week, thank God, and
so you’re going to need something to do with your days off. So I’ve got a quick
fire recommendation for you. It’s fun, its fast, and it’s an old school
classic. Stretch out your swinging arm, we’re going bowling.
It had been over 4 weeks since I’d seen Nessa, what with my
Surgery and her all fancy American holiday- I know which I’d rather do. Not
quite back up to eating out, I suggested a non-foodie after work activity.
Again, not quite wanting to travel too far, I suggested Bloomsbury Bowling
Lanes. A vintage American bowling lane playing classic swing tunes, serving G
& Ts and thankfully none of the flashing neon lights. Oh and without the
screaming kids. Let’s not pretend we like that ear bursting wale when they
score a big fat zero.
With no time to loose, we picked up our chosen balls and it
was game set match. Friends, but for the next hour, rivals.
The first 45 minutes, we surpassed both our expectations. I’ll
be completely honest, I had prepared to flunk, and yet we were surprisingly good.
I know, I know, I’m just so multi-talented.
Oh yeah baby!
But on the other hand, I may have spoken too soon...
Things only went down hill from there. Spectacularly.
So I ended on a bum note. Typical.
After all that swinging and throwing, it burns up quite a sweat. Sadly I wasn't up to the classic, delicious American Dinner that sits in the Lanes, but fear not, I only lived a short walk away. I didn't starve my good friends.
Oh and I have to tell you, I spied the more amazing thing. They serve 27 inch Pizzas! Like that is the size of a table! So grab your mates, grabs some drinks and have a great one this weekend. Just some good, classic fun. Why does it always have to be complicated? Sometimes the classics are the best.

I love bowling although have to admit that the initial enjoyment tends to wear off when games go on for too long!

I haven't been bowling in so long, such a fun date night. Have you also seen the bowling alley at the Ham Yard Hotel? It makes bowling sophisticated! So glad you're better xx

I love bowling but haven't been in so long. The 27 inch pizza sounds incredible, I reckon I'd eat most of it myself haha!!

Looks like a fab evening. I'm actually surprisingly good at bowling but hardly ever go because you have to stand for an hour in flat shoes. Honestly, whenever there were bowling parties at school, I'd get out of them if I could! Love that this place is a proper old school, retro themed bowling alley!

You look like you had a lot of fun! I work not far from Bloomsbury Lanes, I should definitely get down there one evening after work instead of (oh, who am I kidding - before) going for drinks. I'd probably need the bumpers though....
ReplyDeleteThis looks like you had so much fun! I haven't been in ages, probably because I still require the kids bumpers...lol!
