The Kensington Quarter (13)

I never really do lunch posts. Dinner yes, brunch yes, but lunch? Lunch isn’t really my expertise. Dinner is the working girls meal out, and I love a good lazy weekend brunch spot, so lunch is the sadly forgotten meal.

However I’ve got a must go-to lunch place for you. Casual, relaxed but with delicious food. It’s enough to tempt anyone away from brunch.

The Kensington Quarter opened a couple of weeks ago to little hype which meant a table was easy pickings for me and Nessa.

Inside, it impresses straight away. Modern, sleek with nice little touches here and there. I’ve got a thing for lights at the moment, so extra brownie points.

Oh but talking of brownies… they have they most drool worthy deli too. We had to hurry past it, otherwise it might have been a case of pudding before mains.

I had some potentially exciting news I needed to discuss with Nessa. Once everything falls into place and the details are worked out, I can't wait to share with you guys. If everything goes to plan, it's going to be such a change in my life. I feel like I'm walking around with this little buzzing secret in my chest and I'm dying to let it out.

Fingers crossed I can tell you in a week or two!

Seeing as this wasn't dinner I decided to be good and opt out of alcohol and in with the juice. All their juices are freshly squeezed which was proven when the waitress got my apple, carrot & ginger mixed up with Nessa's orange, pineapple & apple, and created some Carrot, Pineapple and Ginger concoction.

OK, when I say good, I say that loosely... as loosely as I made the top button on my jeans.

God just look at that ooze.

Baked camembert with cranberry jam and garlic croutons. Is there anything better?

For mains, Nessa branched out and had roast sea bass drizzled in lemon oil with potato galette & pea velouté, aka a fancy way of saying a platter of peas.

I was so tempted by the steak, it gets my everytime, but then I saw the words "Blackberry Sauce". Blackerry's for mains? I had to know.

So I present to you, haunch of venison with a celeriac pureé, King Edward potatoes & that blackberry sauce.

Oh it was good, it was very good. There's something about a rich, game-y meat with a sweet, sharp berry that is just golden.

We took a little tea break, umming over whether we could fit in pudding. But our love for chocolate over ruled any kind of reasoning.

And boy am I glad we did...

Wow.

Just stop for a second and look at that. I have no words but wow.

If that isn't the definition of food porn I don't know what is. I don't think I really need to explain to you that it was pure indulgent heaven.

But if you still don't get how good it was, I'll leave you with the money shot...

Somerset House Ice Skating Google Local (2)

My first vlog! Oh this is so exciting. It's like Christmas morning, which speaking of Christmas, ice skating season is here!

London has some pretty awesome ice skating rinks to offer, but I think it's fair to say the daddy of rinks is still Somerset House. I'd tried to go last year, but it books up pretty darn fast, so when this year I was invited to go skating with Google Local, I did a mini fist pump.

So with my partner in crime, Helen, I put one shaky, blade clad foot forward and stepped on the ice to vlog the experience. Spoiler- I can't skate.

Click above on the video, and enjoy. Let me know what you think of my vlog, and if you want to me to vlog more.

Rosewood Hotel Cabaret (10)

I was going to start off with Sunday's are for... but then thought, what actually are they for? For me Sunday's are for relaxing and taking in that last bit of freedom before work. I like to spend once last bit of time having a good knees up before the daily grind starts again. Not for everyone, but if this is you, then follow me into a very surreal little bar....

Feet up, champagne in hand, I headed over to the Rosewood London in Holborn. Luckily I live just down the road so it was a no brainer to go.

Scarfes Bar at the hotel is currently playing host to a series of cabaret evenings featuring world-renowned cabaret performers. Held bi-weekly on a Sunday, I felt like I'd stumbled into some random gentleman's club. It's definitely not conventional cabaret, it's more like stumbling into an eccentric upper class house party in the middle of London, hosted by a rather debaucherous couple who've had too much champagne.

Take your seat in the bar, sit and chat with friends, all whist singer's, contortionists and exhibitionists graze around you. Rather surreal for a Sunday evening.

Entry into the bar is £30, which gets you champagne, food and of course the show. After that, the night could take you anywhere. Engulfed in a soft, luxurious sofa, I did feel rather at home and relaxed. Which let me tell you is how they want to feel.

The evening started with rather refined introduction by our host Dusty Limit's, yet this was short lived. Whilst we relaxed around our table, strange and mesmerising things started to unfold. I won't bother trying to commentate, so I'll just let the visual effects do the talking...

Oh my gosh, my jaw literally down to my knee's! She was incredible!

We all ended on a bit of a sing song, like some fancy drawing room gathering that I'd stumbled into. I rather feel Downton would like this.

I've been to alot of Cabaret's this year, including Cafe de Paris and The London Cabaret Club , however this was wildly different. It's alot more casual and fun, not formal stage, just a bar and some rather eccentric performer's wandering about.

I do think this may be the way forward, especially for a Sunday where you just want to relax... well relax as much as you can when a man walking on his hand's jumps on your table. Wish I'd caught that on camera, kind if moment.

Of course, this all being a rather hedonistic kind of party, I thought 'd share for any of you fashion types my outfit. This is my new go to sweatshirt from a website called Flying Wardrobe. Ignore that name, they do have some great pieces, like this petal top.

With a little stumble out of the bathroom, maybe a wrong turn down the hotel corridor's, I left the sort of party and made my way home, filled with champagne and a fuzzy head of what exactly had a I seen that night.
