My Beauty Loves

Monday 27 April 2015

I'm no beauty blogger. Certainly not. I can't really tell you the advantages between CC cream and BB cream. Or whether you are a warm or cool toned person. However I get comments, and tweets asking me what eye shadow I'm wearing in a certain blog post, or what do I use to treat my hair. So I thought it would be nice to do a little more of a personal post, so you can get to know me a little more, rather than just the places I recommend.

So here are my latest and most loved beauty loves.

First my hair. My hair is quite massive and striking due to its ginger colour, so naturally most of my comments are about my hair.

I can't say I do anything too dark artsy to it, although I do like a good salon blow dry once every few weeks.

However lately I've been trying some new products and rather liking them a lot. My hair is naturally very frizzy and "fluffy" as my friend calls it, so John Frieda's Frizz Ease has been a staple for years.

However they've recently launched John Frieda Frizz Ease Smooth Forever range. It's made with coconut oil which is known for its nourishing and moisturizing qualities- seriously coconut oil instead of body lotion is the best thing I've done.

I love the shampoo and conditioner combo, as the conditioner especially is super creamy feels thick on my head, like it's really soaking in.

It's the Primer though that's a little beauty secret. A bit like a face primer, you put it on first before and styling products, and it helps smooth out your hair, and make any additional products work better, by giving them a smoother and more even surface. Think foundation primer but for your hair. It's genius.

For my skin care, I'll be honest, in the past I've been rather naughty. I've been a very basic wash, and wipe kind of girl. It's just effort! However I had a bit of a revelation and decided to invest. After wandering between counters, I settled on Clinique. I wanted their 3 Step Skin Care however for the 3 bottles its about £70.

Without knowing whether they would be any good, I didn't want to pay this price. However the geniuses at Clinique have created a 1 month kit. I use the 3 Step Introduction Kit Skin Type 2 which is for dry/combination. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say my skin does in fact glow more. It looks healthier, as one of my problems was I just had that dull/tired look about me.

Speaking of Clinique, please all hair the Chubby Stick Contour and Highlight duo. These are the bomb and you'll probably have seen me rave over them on twitter.

I've tried many contouring kits to try and get that defined cheekbone look, some cheaper and some more expensive, but these are the best I've used.

First day at work with me using them and I had two people say my face looked slimmer! Result!

Oh and I just happen to be giving a set away here

I've been searching for a new summer perfume for a while. I'm quite fussy, as for the day I like light, fruity fragrances that are a bit fun.  Nothing quite was what I wanted until I stumbled upon Les Delices de Nina by Nina Ricci. Fun, fruity with a hint of a careless flirt, its so sweet and sassy I just love it. Not one for those who like complex notes of this and that, but if you want to smell delicious, then this is your new summer love.

Ah Murad. I first discovered them years ago, and I've never looked back. They seriously rock in the skincare world, and now I love them for battling my blemishes.

Not a sexy bathroom product, but one we all must use otherwise it will be our faces looking unsexy.

I'm very lucky that I don't get too many spots, but my chin and around my nostrils will occasionally get clogged if I've been lazy on the old cleanse and tone. So when this happens I whip put this Murad Blemish Clearing Solution and in a couple of days its all clear!

Finally my everyday makeup base. My mascara changes regularly, and it's nothing special, but I think having the perfect base is essential. Not to shout my own praises, but I think I've found it.

I can't believe I only starting using primer a few months ago, It's now unmissable in my routine, my skin just glows so much more, and my makeup is smoother. Everything just looks healthier now thanks to Smashbox Photo Finish

However it can't take all the credit, as after years of searching I've found my perfect foundation. I've been using Perfection Lumiere by Chanel for about 18 months now and I haven't regretted it one bit. It may be pricier that any drug store foundation, but its worth it. Natural, smooth and the number one thing is that it doesn't slide off and lasts all day! It's a dream foundation in my eyes.

So there we have it. My current favorite beauty loves. Let me know if you like these and anything you think I should be trying.

  1. Lovely post! I love knowing what products people use! I need to start using Primer again and using cleanser and toner - I think I just put it off because our wash basin at home is so small and I just feel as though I'm splashing water all over the place. I genuinely think if I had a more glamorous bathroom, I'd take more time on my skin!

Love all the products. I need to try Chanel again. Not sure why I stopped using it!!

  5. Ooh Clinique! I absolutely love that brand! My favourite is the pore perfector. It really works, especially for someone like me who has pores you could swing from. :)
