A Moroccan Sky Riad at The Gherkin

If you had to pick out the iconic buildings of London's skyline, what would you say?

Houses of Parliament? London eye? And probably The Gherkin.

Officially known as 30 St Mary Axe, it is one of London's most eye catching buildings for it's unique twist and cross glass design, and of course it's "Gherkin" like shape.

It is on many people's hit list to go in, so you will be very pleased to hear that the top floor- the 40th- is now open to the public, complete with bar. So to celebrate the opening, there is currently a Moroccan Sky Riad pop up until the 5th September to help you get into that summer mood.

Searcys restaurant have transformed level 40, bringing in gorgeous Middle Easten interiors.

It's not overpowering, but just enough to add glamour and something special to a night out.

It also looks like it's going to be the closest thing we'll get to a summer night under the stars, this year. Damn British weather.

The Gherkin now as a bar offers some of the most spectacular views of London, which is particularly good as the sun goes down. The way the skyline changes colour really is quite something.

I loved the little beds that were around the edge of the floor, with canopies draped over. If only the Moroccan sun was beating down too as I lounged about on one. Sadly just a dream.

Me and Dan had opted for one of the packages on offer. We had the Deluxe Cocktail package. 2 drinks each, and 3 bar snacks for £39pp.

We started with champagne as I don't think being at the top of one of London's, if not the worlds most iconic buildings, would be right without toasting it and it's views with a little bubbles.

Dan also opted for a Middle Eastern twist on a mojito and I went for the deliciously sweet Saffron Gin, apple and honey cocktail.

To accompany our drinks we had a big bowl of falafel and hummus, Baba ganoush with crisp pitta and a Sardine open sandwich on Khobez flat bread with spice tomato.

I do love a bar, where you can pick and nibble at food, sip on cocktails and just enjoy the buzzing atmosphere. But of course with here, this isn't any old bar, location is key and worth making one of your nights out.

The pop up is open during the day too for lunch, but it's the after hours atmosphere that makes it.

Plus you wouldn't get those views in the day. Surely it's worth a visit just to see that sunset. Just beautiful.
