Electro Brunch at Gaucho

Electro Brunch at Gaucho London

Brunch is my favourite meal of the day. I genuinely get excited at the prospect of having brunch at the weekend. I think it's the idea of mixing pancakes and alcohol together that really speaks to me.

So always on the look out for a new brunch place, I was excited to hear that Gaucho, possibly the UK's most popular upmarket steak restaurant's, had started a Saturday brunch.

Oh and it's bottomless food and drink. If that's not a hook, I don't know what is.

Me and my boyfriend Dan headed to the Piccadilly location, 3 floors of serious glitz. From the mirrored walls, to the gold bar, it's a rather ritzy place, but don't worry, it's got a very cool vibe.

So much so they named their brunch Electro Brunch as they have a resident DJ playing smooth songs to keep you happy. Not that' you'll need help keeping happy, with the menu they have on offer.

*It's pretty dark inside, so excuse the noise in the photo, I had to do a bit of post production correction.

The deal is £45 per person and you can have anything and everything on the menu as many times as you like.

£45 may sound a little on the steep side, but once you've had a couple of dishes and a couple of drinks and your looking at the price of anywhere else in London.

So to kick things off, Dan had the breakfast cocktail, which that week was gin and orange marmalade.

I decided to start of with a healthy juice (although they are more like smoothies). Basically they have a table of fruit and you go up, pick your fruits and they'll wizz it up. Perfect for me as I hate banana and nearly every fruit drink has banana in it.

Taking the words order as much as you like to heart, we kicked things off with a couple of dishes... ok four.

Eggs Royale for me, Eggs Benedict for him.

Baked chorizo sausage with fried egg, and mushrooms and tomatoes.

Deliciously rich and hearty.

Blueberry pancakes with honey.

These were so light and fluffy, with just the right amount of tang from the fruit and sweetness from the honey.

As you can see, the portions aren't big, which is just as well really, as it means you can carry on ordering!

The second round was a chorizo and chimichurri bap for him, which I was told had a great smokey flavour with a kick.

And for me it had to be more pancakes! I may have gone in for thirds off camera too.

Another bap came in next round, which had to have bacon on it. I mean what brunch is without bacon

And then I discovered MY dish. Fried cheese.

There's this running joke with people who know me. I have to eat cheese every day. I actually do have cheese at least once a day. Whilst writing this post, I was eating cheesy enchiladas.

So of course when I found that there was such a thing as fried cheese at 11:30 in the morning, well I was as happy as Larry.

See that's a happy face right there.

The atmosphere is buzzy and lively and it seems popular with groups. There was a fair few tables of well heels women with their  girlfriends. Although you don't have to wear a dress. I mean look at me, I had a Zelda T-Shirt on!

The food is delicious, although the odd thing could have been a touch warmer as it felt like it might have been sat on the kitchen counter for a while.

We left thoroughly well fed and watered, with a smile on our faces as we past the DJ, giving a little shimmy down the stairs. So grab your friends, date or mum, and have a good buzzy, filling fun brunch.

If there was one thing to recommend they add to the menu though- coffee. Brunch without coffee? It's nearly as bad as a world without cheese.

  1. Love Gauchos! Went for the first time back in February. Compared to the other bottomless lunches in London, this is a great price. Especially as you have a selection of drinks to choose from. Most others just give you the choice of one! Great post thanks for sharing.

  5. Oh my gosh this looks incredible. £45 is very good value for unlimited food AND drink - most places only give you one dish and then unlimited bubbly, which usually ends up badly! Also, I hate banana too, so love the idea of choosing your own fruit :)
Must check this one out for sure!
