What you can expect from me in 2019

Monday 11 February 2019

I've never really been concerned with a new year. It just seems like any other month really to me. However 2019 feels a little different to me this time. It feels like the year I could actually do something. 2018 was a great year for me and it will be hard to top it. After years of wondering what I really wanted to do with my career I finally found what I really enjoyed and when my boyfriend asked me for the millionth time what I wanted to do and what my 5 year goal was, for the first time, I actually had an answer. In 2018 I gained 4 professional certifications and got offered a job in the career that I wanted.

But it's 2019 that I started by new career, and having been their 1 month now I have a good feeling about it and feel like I can achieve a lot this year.

So I thought it would be good to put down a sort of what I want to achieve in 2019 but also what you can expect from me.

Creative Instagram Photography

Instagram is evolving all the time. I remember back when I'd post a quick unedited snap of my food from my phone and would be done. Now, its a lot of of a curated, thought out and stylised platform. Whilst there's so many bad sides to Instagram, one of the good things from it is that my photography has grown up with it. I love taking photos, editing photos and just thinking up new shoots. This year I want to be more creative with my photos. I've got a one day photography workshop next weekend, and I'm watching a ton of photoshop tutorials, as I'd love to create more imaginative photos. I absolutely love Rose Hardy and Adam Bird, and yes I've got a loooooong way to go before I ever come close but I'm certainly going to try and be more creative this year.

Of course, why not follow my creative journey on Instagram here

Chatty Instagram stories

I used to write more chatty blog posts, and tweet way way more, but over the years that changed, and part of me feels like I've lost that day to day connection with you guys. I tried YouTube but just couldn't find my rhythm there, so for now my aim to to do more chatty stories on Instagram. Just day to day stuff, insights, funny moments, and just more realism.

More regular blog posts

And of course it's not just about Instagram. I realise I haven't been posting nearly as often as I used to on this blog and it really does sadden me. The thing is, I need to go do things to be able to write about them, and for the last good 6 months I'd say, I've just been going to work and coming home again. However I miss going and discovering what's new and happening in London. So I plan to get out there again and with about what's going on and tell you about cool things again.

More tech related content

Now this one is brand new. I'm not planning to put any tech stuff out onto this blog, but as my social media channels are really just "me" I plan to start talking about tech more on them. If you are new to this blog, then a) hello there! and b) I work in Cloud Computing as my full time job. I've been having this debate with myself as to how to do this. My goal for 2019 is to out myself out there more with tech.

My new job is also giving me the platform to do that and I realise I want to get more people involved, especially women. I'm going to meet-ups, giving talks, and I want somewhere to tell you guys about these.

For now, I will be sharing more on my Instagram stories and twitter, but potentially I might spin off to anther account. We'll see.

More meet ups

For anyone who blogged, or read blogs 5 years or so ago will know that blogger meet ups were all the  rage. A blogger would set a date, book a table and readers and fellow bloggers could come and have lunch or dinner together and chat about their shared interests. That seems to have fallen by the way side, and it's quite sad really. Again I think 2019 is the year I want to get back and connect with all of you who read and hopefully like my content.

So this year I plan to host some meet-ups. Just casual lunches, dinners or maybe some with more of a purpose like a photography date. Either way, I'm going to be setting some of these up very soon, so watch this space. Anyone is invited!

So there we have it, my blogging goals for 2019. There should be some fun and interesting things happening this year and frankly I'm excited to get creating again.

So thanks for being here another year, and I'll speak to you all very soon. x
